Before we start: Make sure you have a verified website in your Google Search Console (GSC) account, linked to the email you used during registration, and that you have the necessary access rights. If you signed in with an email that you don't have any websites in your Google Account, you can change the email in your Account settings in the Integrated accounts section.
To check this, log into your GSC account and look at the list of websites in the upper left corner, just below the Google logo.
If you don’t have a website in Search Console, follow this guide “Add a website property to Search Console”
If your website is listed but not verified, follow this guide “Verify your site ownership”
JaySearch won’t work unless your website property is added to your GSC account with verified ownership.
If your website is verified—great! Now, let’s move on.
Log in to your JaySearch account. To create your first project, on the All Projects tab, click the Add new project button.
Next, you will see a list of websites that you can import from your Search Console account. Select the site you want to track rankings for and click the Next button.
Sometimes users encounter straightforward issues on this step, and the most common ones include:
Empty website selection tab: If the website selection tab is empty, it indicates that your Google Search Console account has no properties linked to it yet. To resolve this, log into your GSC account, add a new website property, and complete the ownership verification process.
Unverified resource: If you see a website listed with “Unverified resource” under it, it means the site is in your GSC account, but you still need to verify its ownership to access data.
Also, keep in mind that if you’ve just added a website to GSC, data won’t appear instantly. It typically takes 24 to 48 hours for data to start showing in Search Console, but it could take longer if the site is new or hasn’t been indexed yet. Be patient, and check your dashboard periodically—it will begin displaying data soon!
After choosing a website, you need to select the country for which you want to view keyword rankings. Select the country from the list and click the Import button.
JaySearch only shows the countries in the list where your site has clicks and impressions.
In case you want to track keyword rankings for any other country, you will need to create another project for the same website but with the desired country
Congratulations 🎉
Your project has been successfully created. Enjoy exploring all that JaySearch has to offer!
JaySearch automatically imports your website data from GSC. All the data in your Search Console is now available in JaySearch—just as accurate as GSC, but much more user-friendly for tracking keyword rankings 😉
On the main screen, you'll find an overview of key metrics like total website traffic, impressions, average position, average CTR, and visibility, all displayed on an easy-to-read graph.
Below the main screen, you’ll see tabs Pages and Keywords—these are the core sections you'll use for tracking keyword rankings.
In the Pages tab, you can view all the pages of your website, along with each page’s URL, clicks, impressions, the number of keywords the page ranks for, its top keyword (with search volume), and the average position.
In the Keywords tab, you can track all your ranking keywords, they are sortable by volume, clicks, and impressions. One standout feature of this tab is the ability to view historical keyword rankings, which tracks a website’s position for specific keywords over time. This allows you to identify ranking fluctuations and evaluate the effectiveness of your SEO strategies.
You can also group your main keywords to monitor their rankings and keep them handy. Check out our next tutorial on how to set up keyword groups 👇
